I Need a Recap

Yay, the snow day allowed for updates!

When Hehua on the bed heard this, warmth filled her heart and shook her head gently with a smile.

“Niang, you can rest assured! This daughter-in-law is in good health and has no discomfort at all. Perhaps the child in my belly doesn’t want their mother to feel unwell and now I don’t even feel like vomiting.”

Wu Meili nodded, her eyes glowing green*, and she gave her daughter-in-law’s belly a good-natured glance and said.

*T/N: the original text says glowing green

“Hehua, don’t be shy, remember to tell me about what you want to eat and drink. For the sake of the child in your belly, Niang is willing to spend money.”

As soon as her voice fell, she turned to look at Luya, who had an envious expression and soothed her.

“Luya, when you will have a child, Niang is willing to give you money.”

As soon as the words came out, not only Hehua but also Luya blushed and looked embarrassed.

After all, Hehua was older and she blushed and she lowered her head. Not long after that, she raised her head with bright eyes and spoke apprehensively.

“Niang, there’s one thing I want to tell you.”

“Tell me, I’ll listen.”

Wu Meili nodded her head and said disapprovingly.

After a few seconds of hesitation, Hehua clenched her teeth and told a little secret.

“Niang, last night I had a dream about a golden star falling from the sky and then slowly falling into my stomach.”

Wu Meilii glanced dubiously at her eldest daughter-in-law*. She looked somewhat serious but also a little nervous.

*T/N: she’s like, the flattery is a bit too great here

“Hehua, tell me the truth. Did you make it up to please me or it’s true?”

Once the words were questioned, Hehua lowered her head in grievance and responded in a low voice.

“Niang, what I said is true. I didn’t lie to you.”

“Dasao*, why didn’t you say this earlier? It’s no wonder that Niang would be suspicious when you say it only now.

*T/N: elder sister-in-law

Luya frowned slightly, clapping her hands in annoyance.

Hehua looked up anxiously, explaining.

“Dimei*, it’s just a dream. I did not give it importance. If it hadn’t happened today, I might have not shared it in all my lifetime.

*T/N: younger sister-in-law

Wu Meili smiled and shook her head again, determined to settle the matter.

“Whether what Hehua is saying is true or not, I shall take it as true. The child in her belly is destined to be precious, and there are some miracles that could happen.”

Just as she finished speaking, there was a loud explosion and a barrage of lightning and thunder rumbled one after another in the sky.

Even inside the room, everyone could see that the lightning made the sky as bright as day.

Others didn’t react, but Wu Meili was shocked. After trembling for a long while, she spoke.

“Did I just leak information and so I was warned by God?”*

*T/N: nay, it’s because you didn’t truly believe Hehua and just spoke perfunctorily

After entering the room, Zhou Dalang, who had remained silent sighed hearing such words and replied.

“Niang, this is just a coincidence. When Hehua spoke, there was no reaction outside.”

“Yeah, Niang, it’s just a coincidence.”

Luya held Wu Meili’s arm and made her case by counting by fives and tens.*

*T/N: 一五一十 is apparently an idiom that means to narrate systemically and in full detail.

“You see, it isn’t just some strong wind, thunder and lightning? I believe it will not be long before it rains heavily.”

With the advice of her eldest son and second daughter-in-law, Wu Meili finally took action. She got up and went to the window and opened it a bit, carefully observing outside.

As in previous years when it rained, the scenery outside the house was very normal. She breathed a sigh of relief and closed the window.

Returning to the place where she had just sat, Wu Meili looked into the eyes of the three around her and warned them sternly.

“Whether it’s a coincidence or not, you have to keep your mouth shut. If you speak carelessly and get scolded by heaven, Niang will not be able to save you.”

The three, son and daughter-in-laws, sighed internally but they couldn’t do anything but agree with their elder. They nodded and promised halfheartedly. As for what they were thinking, only they know.
